Multiple Rings: Sets & Stackables

Multiple ring sets and collections of stackable rings are favored in the season’s fashion editorials quite aside from the brass ring sets by Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière I spotlighted in my last blog post

Much of this look is celebrity-driven. Superstar Jennifer Lopez wears a group of assorted rings in this photo from the Jan. 28, 2013, issue of People.

Singer Alicia Keys wears huge identical rings in this photo from the Dec. 17, 2012, issue of People.

“Piled-on gold” is one of the “trends to try right now” identified in the March 2013 issue of Lucky: “Don’t hold back: A mix of bold gilded cuffs, collars and rings (on every finger!) makes any outfit look totally cutting-edge.”  The model wears gold-plated rings from Melinda Maria along with a “Gold collar” and “Gold cuffs” from Alexis Bittar. She wears a scuba jersey harness from Gryphon New York and a C & C California t-shirt. Pictured to the right is a cuff from Fantasy jewelry Box, a ring from Karen London, and a “killer gold collar” from Charles Albert. The term gold in the feature refers to the color of the metal, which may be confusing to readers.

A stack of three gold-plated rings from Melinda Maria are also the choice of stylist Heidi Bivens in the April 2013 issue of InStyle, along with a gold-toned cuff from Ami Clubwear and gold-toned triangular earrings from Foreign Exchange.

Langley Fox Hemingway, daughter of actress Mariel Hemingway, appears in the May 2013 issue of Glamour wearing multiple rings, including a chain ring from Emar Batalha and a V-shape ring from Campbell. She also wears hoop earrings from Alexis Bittar. Her top is by Edith A. Miller.

One editor’s picks in the April 2013 issue of InStyle include a set of 10 gold-plated rings from Jules Smith, pictured above, bottom right. Also spotlighted is a single gold-plated ring with the appearance of multiple rings from Vita Fede.

The February 2013 issue of Harper’s Bazaar pictures a grouping of stackable rings from Jessica Biales, an editor’s personal picks, about which she writes: “The design is sculptural, and they can be personalized by layering. I’d wear them every day.” Also spotlighted is a silver and enamel tiered necklace from Bottega Veneta.

The April 2013 issue of Marie Claire offers an opportunity for readers to win a set of five of Lynn Ban’s angular stacking rings, one of which is pictured above.

A ring set from Eddie Borgo is featured in the April 2013 issue of Marie Claire. Also featured is a wristwatch from Anne Klein.

One of “10 Things to Try This Month!” spotlighted in the May 2013 issue of People StyleWatch is “a first-knuckle ring,” like the one pictured on Rihanna’s hand, worn with another ring. Neither ring nor the necklace pictured are identified.

The April 2013 issue of InStyle features colorful gem-studded stackable microbands from Martin Katz. Actress Elle Fanning, pictured,  is reportedly a fan, wearing pink sapphires and diamonds.

Taking a different tack, the April 2013 issue of Town & Country piles on non-matching bejeweled rings by David Webb and Ilias Lalaounis in a photo featuring new tiny bags from Ferragamo, Oscar de la Renta, and Hermès. The model’s blouse is from Gucci.

And the rings need not necessarily fit the wearer’s fingers:  Here’s an idea from the April 2013 issue of Fitness magazine, combining multiple rings on a chain: “Each sterling silver or gold-plated RemindeRing has an uplifting saying, like ‘Rock your new body.’ String a few on a necklace for the ultimate motivation boost.”

Ring designers, now is a prime opportunity to market your rings in multiples to your fashion-forward customers.
