Jewels From My Inbox: August 2026 Edition

August is a transition month that always feels a little meandering. It’s still technically summer—and the temperatures confirm that, for the most part—but for many, thoughts have already turned to fall. For retailers, take that one step further: It’s time to start thinking about the holidays.

August is also when many take their summer breaks. The days are long, hot, and slow; much of Europe is on vacation; and, for those with kids, it’s the final stretch before they head back to school. There’s a sense of being caught between seasons—still firmly in summer, but with one eye on what’s coming next.

My inbox was a good reflection of that in-between feeling. There was plenty of peridot and spinel (to account for the month’s birthstones), sprinkled with hints of incoming fall trends (which, it turns out, haven’t shifted all that dramatically from the current season). Spectacular diamonds, whimsical styles, and interesting shapes rounded out the highlights that caught my eye this August.
