As Marvel prepares to spin another Spider-Man tale in movie theaters, Citizen has unveiled a limited-edition watch with the superhero on the dial.
The new Spider-Man watch features original artwork created specifically for Citizen by longtime Marvel illustrator Adam Kubert. It depicts Spider-Man swinging through a stylized cityscape and incorporates luminous web details intended to evoke the look of a comic-book panel.
“I wanted the artwork to capture the energy and movement that make Spider-Man instantly recognizable,” Kubert said. “The goal was to create something that felt rooted in the visual language of the comics while translating naturally into a watch design—from the sense of motion to the small details fans will recognize. It was exciting to bring that world into a new format.”
Additional references to Spider-Man lore appear in the design: The sound effect “THWIP!” (made when Spidey shoots a web) is incorporated into both the dial and caseback.
Citizen’s Spider-Man Swings model is limited to 1,500 pieces worldwide and includes a collectible pin. The watch, priced at $525, features a 43 mm gray ion-plated stainless-steel case and bracelet with a three-hand movement and date display.
According to Citizen, the Spidey timepiece coincides with the 50th anniversary of its Eco-Drive technology as well as the July 31 release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The latest installment in the film franchise again stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker. Holland is now married to Zendaya, whom we at JCK watch closely because her fashion game is on point at all times. (Both spouses are in another new movie you may have heard of, The Odyssey.)
Holland may not have mastered method dressing like his wife, but Vogue says he’s holding his own for Spider-Man fashion: “Thanks to the Spider-Man media blitz, we now have our first glimpse at their married couple style. And the sartorial focus? While it may not be matchy-matchy, it’s definitely coordinated.”
The next and perhaps biggest Holland flex? He’s set to portray dance legend Fred Astaire. It’s no “Umbrella,” we’re going to guess, but it likely will be a pleasure to watch.
