When it comes to summer travel, the East Coast offers its share of aspirational destinations—from the breezy nautical charm of New England to the enduring fantasy of long weekends in the Hamptons.
Former travel writer Diana Bufalini knows a thing or two about capturing the spirit of a place in her work. Now she’s channeling that storytelling into jewelry. Her New York–based brand, Fourteen August, recently introduced the Sun Goddess collection, an ode to East Coast summers and the sunlit nostalgia they inspire.
Founded in 2024, Fourteen August was born from Bufalini’s desire to represent the emotional landscape of travel through fine jewelry. Rather than offering symbols of a specific locale, her designs evoke the feelings that linger long after a trip has ended, with one’s memories of warm afternoons by the water, the glow of late-day sunlight, and other experiences in their favorite destinations.

The Sun Goddess collection translates those moments into sculptural gold pieces meant to be worn every day. Standouts include the bold Cleo collar (above), whose fluid silhouette recalls the effortless elegance of seaside style, and the playful Daydreamer charm necklace (pictured at top), designed for layering and personalization.
Throughout the collection, polished gold takes center stage, echoing the warmth of sunlight against skin while giving each piece a timeless versatility.

Fourteen August’s connection to nature and meaningful places extends beyond aesthetics: The brand donates a portion of its monthly proceeds to Save the Redwoods. Its environmental commitment is reinforced by its practice of producing jewelry to order, a model intended to reduce unnecessary production.

While summer may have sparked the Sun Goddess collection, its appeal reaches beyond a single season. Jewelry has long served as a keepsake of life’s milestones, and Bufalini approaches each design with that same philosophy, creating pieces that function as wearable reminders of places visited, moments shared, and stories worth carrying forward.
In that sense, Sun Goddess isn’t simply a celebration of summer—it’s a celebration of the memories that make a destination unforgettable.
