The Fourth of July holiday ushers in haute couture week in Paris, an important bellwether for jewelry trends. And for American teens in the southeast with a design itch to scratch, a jewelry camp at a venerable museum is guaranteed to keep them engaged. Happy summer!
ATTEND
Paris Haute Couture Week: July 6–9 (in person)

The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM) governs the biannual Paris Haute Couture Week. The fall-winter 2026 season kicks off tomorrow with 30 participating houses; highlights include Pierpaolo Piccioli’s first couture collection for Balenciaga. The world’s major jewelry houses—from Paris-based maisons Boucheron, Chanel, and Messika, to international brands such as Mikimoto—use the occasion to show off their high jewelry–making prowess. Don’t miss Van Cleef & Arpels’ new collection, Fascinating Egypt, making its debut this week. “Given that high jewelry collections tend to influence the direction of broader jewelry trends, a widespread fascination with Egyptomania may soon be on the horizon,” JCK contributor Amy Elliott writes. “Time to get those Cleopatra necklaces out of the vault…”!
Jewelry Design Lab at Columbia Museum of Art in South Carolina: July 6–10 (in person)

If your teen is interested in jewelry design and you’re located somewhat close to Columbia, S.C., consider enrolling them in the Columbia Museum of Art’s Jewelry Design Lab, aka jewelry summer camp. Participants will learn wire techniques, sheet metal cutting, basic metal stamping, bead weaving, cold connection assembly, and layout planning. Teens create polished, contemporary pieces and build a small portfolio of wearable jewelry designs.
WATCH
Wimbledon: Through July 12

If you haven’t been watching Wimbledon, we’ve got news for you: London’s annual Grand Slam features more than just great tennis. There are the walkout ’fits, from Naomi Osaka’s gown that paid homage to traditional Japanese ceremonial dress (the designer was Tokyo-based Hana Yagi) to Taylor Fritz’s blazer, tear-away trousers, and scarf, all by his sponsor, Boss. There’s the jewelry: Aryna Sabalenka always has the best; she’s continuing her partnership with Material Good with a custom suite of diamonds and emeralds—to match the Wimbledon grass courts, naturally. (Fun fact: Emeralds are Sabby’s favorite stone; her oval-cut diamond engagement ring features a hidden halo of emerald accents.) And don’t miss the watches! The stars always strap on their Rolexes or Hublots just before their post-match interviews…unless you’re Serena Williams, and then you wear your Audemars Piguet 18k gold and diamond Royal Oak Offshore while you’re playing—just like Rafael Nadal did with his Richard Mille. (Hey, it had a rubber strap!) And there’s the human drama: Make some time to watch Chris & Martina: The Final Set, which chronicles the rivalry turned friendship of tennis royalty Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova.
