Diamond Groups Mourn Freddy Hager

Two leading diamond associations issued statements this week
hailing Freddy Hager, former president of the London Diamond Bourses and
treasurer-general of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses, who
died April 7
.

“My board and members were very sad to hear about
Freddy’s passing,” stated Moscow Diamond Bourse president Alex Popov.
“Freddy has been one of my close friends. He was the first who
welcomed me personally and the Moscow Diamond Bourse into the family of
WFDB.  Freddy was a perfect gentleman, but was not afraid to speak his
mind and his eloquence was always a vital part of all our meetings.”

The International Diamond Manufacturers Association said it
was “joining the global diamond community in mourning” Hager’s loss.

“Freddy was first of all a friend,” said IDMA
president Moti Ganz. “His qualities were many and without exception
endeared him in all in the communities he lived and worked in. We wish his
wife, Louise, his children and grandchildren strength and courage to cope with
losing Freddy, who still had so much to offer.”
