Farewell, Carrie Bradshaw—but Hello to Her kWIT Mood Ring

As HBO Max’s And Just Like That… winds down, fans may find the apparel and accessories worn on the show by star Sarah Jessica Parker become even more dear.

And that is one reason kWIT Jewelry designer Karla Witukiewicz is thrilled her work has been part of the third season of And Just Like That… Parker’s legendary character, Carrie Bradshaw, has worn kWIT’s Mood Orb ring, a piece that not only is beautiful but helps tell Carrie’s story.

Witukiewicz says “Carrie-core” involves jewelry that’s personal, playful, a bit daring.—just like that Mood Orb ring, with its tie-dye enamel band and radiant gemstone orb. The ring feels dreamy and cosmic…perhaps helping the perpetually romantic Carrie make her momentous decisions about her love life and career.

Parker has played shoe-loving writer Carrie Bradshaw for more than 25 years, starting with the HBO megahit Sex and the City, which ran from 1998 to 2004, then in 2008 and 2010 SATC feature films and, since 2021, on the sequel series And Just Like That…

kWIT Mood Ring Chalcedony
Carrie Bradshaw opted for pink, but kWIT Jewelry’s Mood Orb ring also comes in purple chalcedony.

The show’s costume designers Molly Rogers and Danny Santiago had Carrie layer two Mood Orb rings—the pink tourmaline and pink chalcedony—in her typically eclectic way. “Carrie wore them stacked throughout the season. There she was, holding a Magic 8 ball, asking the universe questions,” Witukiewicz says.

“Many of my jewelry pieces transform, which is perfect for this story,” she says. “You can wear them in so many ways. But they also fit together, which allows my pieces to work with all of your jewelry.”

Pink tourmaline symbolizes joy, says Witukiewicz, and could be seen as a signifier of Carrie’s confidence and creativity. Pink chalcedony represents empathy, she notes. It is like a soft hug that calms the heart and opens emotional pathways—something Carrie needed as she worked through her decades-old relationship with Aidan Shaw.

The Mood Orb ring, priced at $3,600, is also available with aquamarine (which represents cleansing, Witukiewicz says), white onyx (clarity and mental focus), purple chalcedony (introspection), and green prehnite (grounding and balance).

kWIT Mood Ring Aquamarine
The enamel colors on the ring (show here with aquamarine orb) are inspired by the rising and setting sun—an homage to the way suns orbit and moods shift with the light, says designer Karla Witukiewicz.

Each gemstone orb on the kWIT mood ring has a special quality that makes it look like it is winking, catching the light in such a way that the ring seems to glow, Witukiewicz says. “They seem to move with the sun. People are drawn to them.”

So while an old-school mood ring changed colors according to the wearer’s temperature, the kWIT Jewelry version is more about “your energy, your rhythm, your mood…the magic of alignment. like true friendships,” according to the kWIT website. Thus, it’s well suited to Carrie’s identity and the show’s storytelling, says Witukiewicz.

The ring may also make an appearance in a Hollywood now being filmed, she says, though she can’t say anything else about that placement just yet.

“I came up with the Mood Orb ring while I was doing a trunk show in Hawaii. I wanted something that could be a piece of travel jewelry but also reflected where I was,” Witukiewicz says. “I was looking at the sunrises and sunsets—I’m always up for a sunrise. The pinks and purples there were incredible, and I wanted to capture that in a ring.”
