When you think about fine jewelry, what first come to mind is likely diamonds, colored gems, or precious metals. But glass—long associated with costume pieces and trinkets—is now entering the vernacular. Jewelry designers are embracing glass for its abstract shapes, rich colors, and unexpected versatility. Some combine it with stones or metals for textural and color play, while others employ it entirely on its own.
This trend reflects more than just a change in materials. It speaks to a larger movement in fashion and design: The rise of glass in fine jewelry mirrors the free-spirited, boho-luxe aesthetic that continues to gain momentum.
From the swirling colors on Brinker + Eliza’s beaded necklace (pictured at top) made with millefiori, an ancient Venetian technique involving patterned glass canes, or the lightweight yet durable type of glass called borosilicate used in Studio Conchita rings (pictured below), jewelry designers are finding a range of ways to incorporate glass into their work. We’ve rounded up a few of these latest interpretations.
