I’d never thought of pearls as rebellious until recently—but in an ever-changing world constantly chasing the next new thing, how dare they stay the same? Therein lies the beauty of the pearl.
Who does a jewelry editor think she is, presuming she might be able to say something new about the pearl? Therein also lies the beauty—pearls don’t demand new, they just ask for forever.
And forever is what they’ll get, this classic but endlessly reinventable gem, always recognizable even with slight alterations—from the cool classic strand most recently seen on the necks of men (that’s somewhat new, right?) to the more irreverent styles some would say aren’t for your grandmother (but is that really true?).

Yoko London‚ a specialist in enduring pearl design since 1973 (“Redefining Pearls” is its apt tagline), recently debuted O by Yoko, bringing to life two letters key to the brand’s name in distinctive necklaces and bracelets. “The circular strength of the O, the angular elegance of the Y—together, they form a design that is instantly recognizable and unapologetically modern,” says Yoko London’s announcement on the new collection.
“These motifs are more than decorative; they are visual signatures of the brand’s identity. Each piece is crafted to command attention, transforming classic pearls into sculptural jewelry designs.”

O by Yoko jewels are unmistakably contemporary but, as is the way of the pearl, have a genuine air of foreverness that signals a purchase worthy of a lifetime and beyond. Simple yet luxuriously glossy strands of pearls are elevated with those signature O and Y elements, pavé-set with glittering diamonds that, just like the pearl, never go out of style or demand. Each piece is made in 18k gold—white, yellow, or rose—and strung with akoya, South Sea, or freshwater pearls.

“With O by Yoko, we distilled the very essence of our identity—the O, the Y—into powerful forms that speak for themselves. Every angle tells a story,” said Yoko London CEO Michael Hakimian, commenting about the promotional effort behind the new collection: “The ‘Yoko Icons’ campaign is a celebration of modern femininity: confident, self-assured, and impossible to ignore.”
