U.N. Commends Antwerp World Diamond Centre on Commitment to KP

In a resolution on the Kimberley Process, the U.N. General Assembly has commended the Antwerp World Diamond Centre on its commitment to the certification scheme.

The resolution also recognizes the importance of KP in ensuring the effective implementation of relevant U.N. resolutions relating to conflict diamonds.

It explicitly applauds the efforts of the Antwerp World Diamond Centre in the development of a more efficient and effective Kimberley Process website.

“This triple citation of activities spearheaded by the Antwerp World Diamond Centre in the Kimberley Process resolution of the United Nations General Assembly is a well-deserved gratification and approving nod for all the hard work and resources that the Antwerp diamond community has invested in eradicating conflict diamonds,” said AWDC president Stéphane Fischler said in a statement.
