Sarine May Block Diamonds at US Border as Part of IP Push

Sarine Technologies says it will try to block at the U.S. border diamonds produced in violation of the company’s manufacturing patents.

The company, which produces technologies that support the manufacturing process, says it will file actions with U.S. Customs and Border Protection calling for the blockage and possible seizure of diamonds “manufactured in an infringing manner.”

The moves in the United States comes as the company has grown more aggressive in defending its intellectual property. In Israel recently, two foreign nationals were arrested for allegedly trying to induce Sarine employees into selling trade secrets. Sarine also has launched lawsuits in India against local equipment and service providers who allegedly violate the company’s patents and copyrights.
