Ah, the Met Gala. Our favorite celebrities dress to impress in the artsiest, most fashion-forward ensembles they can come up with. In celebration of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute opening, this is the night for fashion on the East Coast. Lucky for us viewers, the innumerable amount of couture, shining jewels, and interesting looks satiates our hunger for glamour and gives us something to drool about for months. Check out my five favorite looks from the 2012 Met Gala (sorry, no Beyoncé here). Click each name to see the stunning celebs, and get the look with these pieces from JCK Marketplace!
The funny lady’s bouncy, lacy frock from Stella McCartney was a hit in the season’s most talked-about hue, and her newly dyed tresses complemented the look. Don’t forget the jewels, of course – her turquoise earrings from Fred Leighton added to the spot-on ensemble.
Not only was Amy Poehler’s dress by Fontini sensational, but she also had two of the most enviable accessories of the night: on her ears, stunning yet edgy earrings from Michael Spirito (see them here). And on her arm, funnyman husband Will Arnett (impeccably dressed, of course).
Rachel Berry has never looked better. The singing beauty shined in a plunging sequined dress from Diane von Furstenberg and sparkling Lorraine Schwartz earrings. I loved the fringed necklace that completed her Old Hollywood look.
Her structured Dior gown was a work of art in its own right, but the Canadian model took it one step further by accessorizing with an armful (two armfuls) of Lorraine Schwartz bracelets. Her earrings and pinky ring, also from the famed jeweler, completed the perfectly piled-on look.
Not everyone call pull off a sequined turban, but the famed model did just that in a form-fitting Rachel Zoe gown to match. But seriously, forget about the outfit – have you seen those jewels? Shining rings on almost every finger, sensational earrings, and bangle bracelets. Definitely a winner where diamond accessories are concerned!
Honorable Mention: Lana del Rey
Regardless of your opinion of the songstress, there’s no denying that Lana del Rey has the cool factor. She’s wearing a cape. And it looks awesome. The Altuzarra-clad del Rey missed the top five only for her lack of major jewels (this is about jewelry, first and foremost), but gets props for what I think is one of the most beautiful looks of the night.
