Lumo Opens a Feminine-Feeling Store in SoCal

Lucia Mouet, owner and designer of stylish fine jewelry brand Lumo, has grown her business steadily online since launching her collection five years ago.

But it was always in the back of her mind to eventually establish a brick-and-mortar space for the brand. “We really wanted to find a better way to reach out to our local community,” says the designer, who last week launched that dream boutique—a refined-feeling outpost on the resort island of Coronado, Calif., located just off the coast of San Diego.

The store, which doubles as a workshop for the completely handmade collection, is located on Orange Avenue, the island’s main shopping street. The shop is just a few blocks away from the gorgeous and historic Hotel Del Coronado.

The multi-use space includes a large, bright, and airy retail store and showroom in the front and—opening up through glass French doors—a creative studio in the rear.

“We designed the layout to create a unique experience for our customers, where they can actually see the space where each and every one of our hand-crafted pieces is made,” she says.

Mouet adds that the store was designed, “to be a bright and minimal space that gives our clients a light-hearted, positive feel when they walk through the doors….We really feel like this complements the style of our jewelry—simple, yet elegant. We wanted the space to be chic, but at the same time to reflect the vibe of the surrounding sunny beach community.”

The store carries the widest range of Lumo pieces, including a selection of one-of-a-kind looks that Mouet says will not be available online.

“We mainly stock our fine 14k collection in the store, as well as an assortment of fine gemstones,” she explains. “However, since we’re located in a resort town, we also stock an assortment of affordable sterling silver, vermeil, and gold-plated items. This way, we’re hoping that everyone can find something to suit their style and budget when they come to visit us.”

Opening one’s own store is always good. The decor however in the picture looks like 70’s working class living room.
