EBay, CFDA Launch Anti-Counterfeit Campaign

The Council of Fashion Designers of America and eBay
have launched the You Can’t Fake Fashion campaign to raise awareness against
counterfeit goods and to celebrate original design.

The CFDA and eBay are collaborating to produce a collection
of original canvas tote bags, customized by 50 designers, bearing the tagline You Can’t Fake Fashion.

“Counterfeits not only are illegal, they also damage brand
owners, frustrate shoppers, and undermine consumer confidence,” said Alan Marks, eBay’s senior vice president of global
communications, in a statement. “This campaign
is another example of our commitment to being a leading industry voice in the
fight against counterfeits.”

The collection is on sale at eBay’s Fashion Vault at fixed, buy-it-now prices. CFDA members including Diane von Furstenberg, Tommy Hilfiger, Billy Reid, Tory Burch, Jason Wu, Marchesa, Rodarte, and the Row designed customized totes available for $150. A standard tote costs $35.

Tiffany engaged in a multiyear trademark battle with eBay
over the appearance of counterfeits on its site.
