5 Favorite Jewels From the 2016 Emmys

Here are my five top jewelry looks from the evening, all as varied as the personalities who attended

There really were no losing jewelry looks at the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards held on Sept. 18 in Los Angeles. In fact, there seemed to be a lot more variations in makers of the jewels that ended up with placements on stars—a refreshing sight even though there is so much pay for play that happens in celebrity dressing. Below are the five jewelry looks that I loved most and why.

Laverne Cox in Butani

These cool curly ear climbers in white gold with diamonds aren’t your traditional red carpet look, which is what makes them such a standout on the Emmy-nominated actress (Orange Is the New Black) and LGBT advocate. Plus, you can see it clearly on her ear. It drives me nuts when you can’t see great jewelry.

Giuliana Rancic in Hueb

You can’t see the stunning Hueb earrings (#@!@#!!) on the ears of the E! News reporter, but at least we have a clear shot of the styles from the brand’s PR house. These are so chic and overtly Brazilian with a playful compilation of tiny stones set in an upward fashion as if they were a climbing garden or series of vines on the ear.

Lily Tomlin in Maxior

Lily Tomlin brought herself, her wit, and a superchic Maxior Y necklace to the Emmys. The comedian and actress earned a nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her costarring role as Frankie in Netflix’s series Grace and Frankie. While she didn’t take home the award in her category, she did win big in the style department with that topaz and diamond number around her neck.

Tina Fey in Lorraine Schwartz

The Saturday Night Live alumna and actress who makes us all laugh in her commercials for American Express wasn’t joking around with her style game. She wore massive, dreamy emerald drop earrings and an emerald and amethyst ring from Hollywood’s queen of jewels, Lorraine Schwartz. Paired with her green gown, the looks were as sublime as her humor.

Angela Bassett in Sutra

Her husband, Courtney B. Vance, may have taken home an Emmy for Best Actor in a Limited Series or Television Movie for his performance as Johnnie Cochran in The People v. O.J. Simpson, but Bassett took home fashion honors for those yummy Sutra opal and brown diamond earrings worn on the red carpet. (JCK even shot a similar pair that ran in the July–August issue.)
