Michael Hill Founder Retiring, Daughter Taking Over

Sir Michael Hill, founder and chairman of the eponymous jewelry chain, is retiring on Nov. 3 and will be succeeded by daughter Emma.

Emma Hill began working at her father’s stores at 13 and has served as deputy chair of Michael Hill International since 2011. She has held a variety of management positions at the company and in 2002 spearheaded its expansion in Canada.

Sir Michael Hill will stay on the board as nonexecutive director. He remains majority owner and plans to stay engaged in the business.

The Australian brand now has 300 stores in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States.
