One in six United Kingdom women said she is unhappy with her engagement ring, according to a new survey commissioned by British e-tailer Diamonds Factory.
In addition, one-third of women said they would have preferred to chose their engagement ring themselves.
The survey, conducted by OnePoll, also found:
– Nearly a quarter of men polled—24 percent—said they found choosing the ring more nerve-racking than the wedding.
– Maybe that’s because they feel pressure to make the right choice: 84 percent of women said the man’s choice of ring is a “direct reflection” of how well their partner knows them.
– Some 30 percent admit they felt pressured into buying a larger engagement ring than they had originally planned, in an effort to outdo others.
– Along those lines, 51 percent of men said price is the most important factor in selecting a ring.
– The surveyed men spent an average of 11 days finding the ring, although 34 percent spent only two days. Two percent spent more than three months.
