JCK 2013 Jewelers’ Choice Awards

Here at JCK, we love awards: Golden Globes, SAGs, WGAs, DGAs, BAFTAs, Grammys, Oscars. We love all the sniffly acceptance speeches, the oh-no-she-didn’t fashion, the awkward Ryan Seacrest red-carpet interviews, and—of course—the jaw-dropping jewelry. So it’s only fitting that the 2013 JCK Jewelers’ Choice Awards big reveal happens in our March issue. What better time than awards season?

Think of the JCAs as the Screen Actors Guild Awards of the jewelry industry. Just as actors honor actors at the SAGs, jewelers honor jewelers at the JCAs. This year, from 422 entries (up 42 percent from 2012), you rewarded 49 winners in 19 categories, plus one grand-prize winner, which you saw on our cover and above: the MARIKA Desert-Gold 14k gold and diamond cuff.

Truthfully, we weren’t at all surprised a gold design took the top prize in our sixth annual contest. Despite the yellow metal’s erratic price, consumer demand seems to be steady, if not rising—particularly for versatile, classic pieces like MARIKA’s cuff.

Here, you’ll find all the first-place winners, a fantastic variety of bracelets, earrings, necklaces, rings—even a knife. And if you’re a subscriber, you’ll receive a special “Best of the Best” supplement, which showcases 150+ JCA finalists, packaged with your April issue.

You’ll also find one more thing in this feature: the winner of the first-ever W Magazine Readers’ Choice Award, chosen by W readers from our overall top 10 vote-getters. Clearly, we’re not the only ones who like a good awards competition.
