“Jewelry, handbags, and accessories” is the second leading product category purchased through social media site Pinterest, according to a survey from Bizrate Insights.
The “clothing and apparel” category ranked No. 1.
About 20 percent of buyers said that their recent Pinterest-influenced purchase came from Etsy. Some 13 percent said they bought Pinterest items through brand stores. Seven percent made a purchase through retailers.
The survey also revealed that the popularity of the social media site continues to grow, with 39 percent of online consumers saying that they have heard of it in May, up 3 percent from March. Out of those who have a Pinterest account, 22 percent visit the site at least once a day.
Among top categories browsed, jewelry and accessories ranks 6th. The leading browsed category was home and garden items, followed by clothing and art.
The data from this study was collected from 20,362 online buyers in May.
