Carl Greve Jeweler, a respected Portland, Ore., jeweler for more than eight decades, will close its doors following a going-out-of-business sale that launched June 1.

According to the store’s website, owners Nick and Lynne Greve had previously announced plans to retire.

The store has been family-owned and operated since 1923. According to a local news source, Nick and his son Carl “Tim” Greve IV operated two stores in the Portland area. Tim closed the second location in February 2010 after five years of operation.

Hearts On Fire filed a breach of contract and breach of security lawsuit against Tim and Carl Greve LLC. in March. According to the complaint, Greve Jewelers had an overdue balance of $167,235.42.

Carl Greve Jeweler could not be reached for comment.
