Gold: Carelle Pays Tribute to Brooke Tivol McGrath

In Remembrance

When Brooke Tivol McGrath died of a rare blood infection in January 2011, the jewelry trade lost one of its most promising young talents. The 28-year-old—a marketing director at Carelle in New York City for four years—was a fourth-generation retailer through her family’s Tivol jewelry stores in Missouri and Kansas.

Brooke routinely wore a pair of Carelle Rose de France amethyst and rose gold earrings featuring a stylized leaf design. To honor her memory, Carelle has created the Brooke Leaf Collection by Carelle. The signature piece is a $7,000 18k rose gold leaf pendant set with a 25 mm Rose de France disc. “The curved outline of a leaf gently supports the translucent stone, symbolizing the delicate balance of life,” says Meghan Greenberg, Carelle’s director of client relations.

The line—which officially launches at JCK Las Vegas—will be sold in all three of Tivol’s stores in Kansas City, Mo., and Overland Park, Kan. Says Cathy Tivol, Brooke’s mother and company CEO, “Our family is deeply appreciative to Chana and Eyal Regev and Carelle. Chana was a great mentor to Brooke.”

Carelle has partnered with the Women’s Jewelry Association to establish a fund in honor of their late friend and co-worker; a portion of proceeds from the collection benefits the Carelle Scholarship in honor of Brooke Tivol McGrath.
