The latest version of Type3 engraving software facilitates engraving of three-dimensional text and graphics and enables users to create new models quickly. The package operates under Windows 95, 98, or NT, is compatible with standard CAD/CAM systems, and generates an ISO code with machining parameters accepted by most numerically controlled machine tools, engraving machines, and cutting tables. The system can be linked to 3-D scanners for reverse-engineering existing objects and integrating the shapes into engravings. The Fox Gold Detector and Karat Meter is an electronic device that speaks the name of the metal being sensed and the karat amount. The Violino series of systems for precision micro marking replaces the flash lamp with a laser diode source that stimulates the YAG crystal, producing a laser beam. Rio Grande’s copper pattern wire is a half-hard wire with floral and leaf patterns embossed on the surface. It can be used to form hoop earrings, rings, barrette designs, pins, and bracelets. Master Bond Inc.’s EP21AR is a two-component epoxy adhesive for applications in which high chemical resistance (particularly against acids) is a prime requirement. EP21AR produces durable bonds that are resistant to thermal cycling and chemicals such as strong acids, alkalis, water, salts, and many organic solvents, over the temperature range of -60°F to more than +250°F. The Superfit mounting—a push-button opening for any ring style—has a 14-mm shank tapered down to 6 mm. The shank accommodates most ring styles and is designed for ease of sizing. The push-button opening bypasses any knuckle size or sudden swelling. Riveted hinge-pin assembly provides added strength and allows adjustment that isn’t possible with soldering assembly. The Pen Pals plating kit contains a battery-powered touch-up pen and gold plating solutions in a variety of karat colors. The portable kit enables users to complete repairs and touch-ups on-premises.
