JA NEW YORK OFFERS EXHIBITS, SEMINARS

More than 1,700 jewelry companies are expected to exhibit at the JA New York Show, taking place July 30 through Aug. 2 at the Javits Center in New York City.

The International Jewelry Design Guild’s “Design Collections 2000” exhibit will feature the work of 80 designers. The New Designer Gallery will showcase industry newcomers. Other special exhibit areas will include international pavilions; a Platinum Pavilion; a Gift Gallery; the American Time Clock & Watch Section; the Place Vendôme, featuring high-end items; Showcase of Style, highlighting new trends; and an estate and antique pavilion. The Diamond Dealers Club will sponsor a diamond bourse. Manufacturing tools will be on display at the Bench Jewelers Marketplace.

“Jewelry 101,” an educational seminar, will be offered Sunday, July 30. Also scheduled for Sunday are “Benchmark Profitability” seminars, focusing on repair departments. A program on the “E-revolution” is slated for Monday, July 31.

IJDG, the Diamond Promotion Service, and the American Gem Society will sponsor educational programs. Prior to the show, on Friday, July 28, the Gemological Institute of America will host a Career Fair.
