James Avery Craftsman recently announced the opening of its 53rd location, in Fredericksburg, Texas. The new store is in the historic Schandua building, which is designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark by the Texas Historical Commission.

Awards and recognition jewelry maker O.C. Tanner, Salt Lake City, recently unveiled a newly renovated flagship jewelry store located in the historic Salt Lake City Library building. The project took two years and $24 million to complete. According to the company, the 104-year-old building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, sat dormant for years after serving as the city’s main library and then a planetarium.

EAST

Eugene Petasky, owner of Metro Brokers Jewelers, in Maryland, has been sentenced to 41 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release, for conspiracy to launder drug proceeds. Prosecutors said Petasky knowingly took cash from drug traffickers in exchange for jewelry.

Davis Jewelers was named Best Local Jewelry Store in Louisville, Ky., according to the LEO Weekly’s Reader’s Choice Awards.

Sissy’s Log Cabin is opening a location in the Heights area of Little Rock, Ark. The new store will be 3,800 square feet with an exterior log cabin décor to resemble the original Sissy’s in Pine Bluff. Sissy’s also will open a location in Hot Springs next fall. In addition, Sissy’s has been awarded rights as the exclusive jeweler for Rolex in the Little Rock area.
