Daniel Baruch, president of Gold Buyers, West Nyack, N.Y., was charged with 46 counts of class A misdemeanors for failure to keep a written record of transactions as well as buying precious metals from individuals less than 18 years old, according to the Rockland County Office of Consumer Protection/Department of Weights and Measures.

George Press Fine Jewelers, Livingston, N.J., celebrated its 30th year recently with an exclusive cocktail reception at its Livingston showroom. To mark the occasion, the store held several promotions, including a giveaway of a unisex Serena Garbo Bertolucci watch and a $330 gift certificate for the customer who brought in the oldest store receipt.

A jewelry store robbery suspect was charged with first-degree larceny and being a fugitive from justice after allegedly swapping cubic zirconias for diamonds valued at more than $35,000 at Monarch Jewelers, Farmington, Conn., two months prior.

James Avery Craftsman is relocating its Mall of Georgia and Ashford Place stores to a new location in The Forum on Peachtree Parkway in Norcross, Ga.

Signet Jewelers announced same-store sales in its U.S. division were up 0.2 percent for fiscal 2010. For the company as a whole, same-store sales declined 0.4 percent.

Tiffany and Co. announced comparable U.S. store sales rose 11 percent in the fourth quarter of 2009 and declined 15 percent in the fiscal year.
