SNAG Conference Pursues Passion

The SNAG Conference will take place March 17-21 at the Hilton Downtown in St. Petersburg, Fla. The conference is co-hosted by the Florida Craftsmen and the Florida Society of Goldsmiths. 3M is the official corporate sponsor of the 2004 conference.

The theme of the 2004 conference, “In Pursuit of Passion,” will be addressed by keynote speaker Christiane Corbat. A practicing healing artist, Corbat believes that passion is a positive life force driving one’s creativity, that “creative passion is the basic ingredient for personal fulfillment.”

Fifteen other presenters will speak on various topics, including Barbara Becker (precious metal clay and its status as a new art medium), Harlan Butt (discussing his series of enameled vessels that explore and reflect the diversity and aesthetic intricacy of the small elements of our natural environment), Barbara Cotter (overview of contemporary jewelry in western Australia), and Alan Revere (presenting the annual projects created by members of the American Jewelry Design Council).

The Annual Juried Student Slide Show will be presented during the conference and arranged to showcase student work, school by school. Information about each school and its programs will be presented as the slides are shown.

Juried and curated exhibitions at local venues will run concurrently with the conference. For information, call (503) 329-2352 or visit snagconference@juno.com. For registration and reservations, call (630) 637-8100.
