Signity Introduces Melee Colors

Melee Colors is the latest offering from Signity, Swarovsky’s natural colored stones division. Designed to add color accents to jewelry, watches, and even mobile phones, Melee Colors are, in the company’s words, “tiny gemstones” that come as small as 1 mm—and are full-cuts. Frank Cardone, Signity’s New York manager, recently gave JCK the opportunity to loupe a few. They are tiny, but when viewed under the loupe, they are quite impressive, in both cut and color.

Signity launched the new program with three gem garnet varieties: spessartite, chrome pyrope, and rhodolite. In each variety, the company has created new designations based on hue.

The chrome pyrope selected for the program is the famous “Ant Hill” garnet from the Navajo reservation in northeastern Arizona. High chromium content gives the gem its signature saturated, vibrant red color. Signity offers this gem melee in two hues: “classic,” a pure deep red, and “passion,” an orangey red. The rhodolite, which comes from Brazil, has a strong purple component. And the spessartite, from Nigeria, is sold as “gold dust,” “orange,” and “tangerine.” All colors are available in two clarities, “fine” and “good.”
