  • Swiss luxury watch brand Baume & Mercier celebrated its formal entry into China’s market with an evening gala in November at a Shanghai hotel overlooking the Huangpu River. More than 1,000 guests attended, including many top Asian celebrities. The agenda included a harp concert, a cigar-making workshop, fire-eaters, a fashion show, and—bringing the evening to a dazzling close —a fireworks display over the river.

  • Baume & Mercier recently celebrated its partnership with Laureus Sport for Good Foundation USA—which promotes sport as a tool for change—at an event at Freedman Jewelers, Huntington, N.Y. It was co-sponsored by GQ magazine and Freedman and hosted by Olympic gold medal winner Edwin Moses. Baume & Mercier created a Laureus watch, which will be sold in select U.S. retail outlets. The watches and a collection of Olympic torches were exhibited throughout the store. Attendees included Rudy Chavez, president of Baume & Mercier North America, and Eric and Judy Freedman, owners of Freedman Jewelers.

  • Michael Goldstein was recently named the new president of Bertolucci USA, by Mark Marek, president of the Fifth Avenue Luxury Group, the U.S. distributor of Bertolucci. Goldstein began his career with Seiko Time Corp. and went on to work for Hublot of America as general manager. He has been sales manager for Audemars Piguet North America since 1999.
