Jewelers’ Security Alliance has issued a warning for Asian jewelry salespersons doing business in California, who apparently are being targeted by South American theft gangs. Since January, 16 robberies of Asian jewelry salespersons (particularly from Hong Kong) in California have been reported to JSA.

Blue Nile was sued for trademark infringement and unfair competition by Hearts On Fire, Bloomberg News reports. Hearts On Fire says Blue Nile uses keywords on search engines like WebCrawler to misdirect those who are searching for Hearts On Fire Diamonds.

Jacob Arabov, 43, known in the hip-hop world as Jacob the Jeweler, has been sentenced to two and half years in federal prison for lying to investigators looking into a multistate drug ring, TheAssociated Press reports. He pleaded guilty in October 2007 to falsifying records and giving false statements as part of a deal with federal prosecutors.
