GIA to Host Industry’s Largest Career Fair

New York City and Carlsbad, Calif., will be the host cities for the gem and jewelry industry’s largest recruiting event of the year—the Gemological Institute of America’s (GIA) Jewelry Career Fair.

The Career Fair will be held July 23 in New York, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, and Oct. 15 at GIA’s world headquarters in Carlsbad, Calif., from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Companies recruiting at one or both locations typically include names such as Bulgari, Chanel, Christie’s, David Yurman, Diamonds International, Henry Dunay Designs, Lux Bond & Green, Tiffany & Co., and Zale Corporation. The Fair features career preparation seminars and one-on-one mentoring sessions conducted by many of the jewelry industry’s leading executives and noted experts in areas such as jewelry sales, manufacturing, and design. Marc Dorio, president of Dorio & Associates and author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the Perfect Interview, will present a workshop on interviewing skills.
