Connie Classic Raises $250,000 for Children’s Hospital Foundation

The 10th Conine All-Star Golf Classic recently raised more than $250,000 for the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation. Proceeds from the celebrity golf event, hosted by Jeff Conine of the Florida Marlins and his wife, Cindy, are earmarked for use at the “Conine Clubhouse,” a home-away-from-home where families stay free of charge for as long as a child is hospitalized at the Hollywood facility.

The golf tournament, presented by Levinson Jewelers and The Emerald Companies, was played at The Club at Emerald Hills. Among the participants were current and retired athletes including Mike Lowell, Chris Chambers, Jay Fiedler, Olindo Mare, Bucky Dent, and Jim Leyritz.

Since 1995, the tournament has raised more than $1.75 million for the clubhouse, primarily to underwrite operating expenses. To date, more than 3,000 families have stayed at the clubhouse, which includes 23 sleeping rooms, a playroom, playground, gardens, chapel, and family support area.
