Charm City: A Peek at LUXURY Privé 2013

The third annual LUXURY Privé show takes the Big Apple by storm

Come July 29, the Pierre Hotel in New York City will play host to the third annual LUXURY Privé New York show, a three-day buying fair distinguished by its well-appointed setting and intimate vibe (just 50 exhibitors!).

“The key to this event is that retailers like doing business in this environment,” says event director Desiree Hanson, citing the easygoing pace and manageable amount of exhibitors as main attractions for buyers.

In a departure from previous years, the show will feature a Designer Balcony, reflecting a new focus on attracting cutting-edge stylists. “We have a great roster of exhibitors—strong established brands—but we’re really honing in on designers,” Hanson says.

Among the first-timers at the show will be Meredith Marks, a Chicago-based designer who’s debuting her new Blair Collection, which features a pavé diamond disc that clips onto a pendant, cuff, or ring—providing three looks in one.

Another Privé newcomer, Jade Lustig of New York City–based Jade Trau, says she signed on to the show in an “impulsive moment” because she’s “trying to keep the momentum” she picked up at JCK Las Vegas.

In addition to showing her Jade Trau for Forevermark line, Lustig—known for making heirloom-quality pieces in 18k gold and diamonds—will bring 15 styles of bracelets that are designed like cuffs but boast “the heft of bangles.”

Showgoers will want to stock up on the white diamond look—if only to look the part at the LUXURY Privé welcome reception Sunday, July 28, in the Pierre’s Wedgwood Room. The event takes its design cues from the Jazz Age decadence of The Great Gatsby.

“From decor to music, everything is going to be Gatsby-themed,” Hanson says. “So everybody’s going to need to dress up for the party!”
