At Last

A healthcare manager loves oversize beaded necklaces and pearls, and isn’t opposed to treating herself to something new for a job well done.

WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE JEWELRY DESIGNER AND WHY?

I like Alexandra Webb, who is local to my area. I am a big fan of her necklaces. Her signature pieces are big beaded and multistrand pearl necklaces.

WHAT IS YOUR FIRST MEMORY OF JEWELRY?

I grew up with a mom who loved jewelry and always accessorized. I remember as a kid she would be wearing jewelry just sitting around the house! And if she went out, she always put a brooch on her jacket.

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN JEWELRY?

I really like things that are unique and different, a piece that makes a statement, and things that I haven’t seen anybody else wearing. I also like things that stand on their own and that don’t need a lot of other pieces to go with it.

HAS MOST OF YOUR JEWELRY BEEN RECEIVED AS A GIFT OR PURCHASED FOR YOURSELF?

I purchase jewelry for myself. I love the Tiffany silver mesh ring that I bought for myself when I passed a significant milestone in my career. The ring is something I always wanted, something I love, and decided that I would treat myself to.

WHAT PIECE OF JEWELRY MEANS THE MOST TO YOU?

My pearl earrings because they were the first gift that my husband ever gave me. On one of our first dates, I told him that I had had pearl earrings and lost one, and how destroyed I was about it. Six months later, it was my birthday and he remembered and bought a new pair for me, so they will always be sentimental for me.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE JEWELRY STORE OR PLACE TO BUY JEWELRY?

Alexandra Webb is my favorite place to shop.

WHAT ENCOURAGES YOU TO BECOME A REPEAT CUSTOMER AT A RETAIL STORE?

Service, but also quality of pieces and variety. If merchandise is constantly changing, new things are coming in, and displays look fresh, then that makes me want to go back.

WHAT INFLUENCES YOUR JEWELRY PURCHASES AND HOW YOU WEAR JEWELRY?

I like to use jewelry as way to express myself because the way I dress is pretty conservative and plain. I like jewelry that looks unique and funky and like to find pieces that are a little more creative and help me step outside of my comfort zone.

IF MONEY WERE NO OBJECT, WHAT PIECE OF JEWELRY WOULD YOU BUY?

Diamond solitaire earrings. Like having pearls, they are timeless, and you can wear them with anything, and they will never go out of style.
