PA JEWELERS PLAN CONVENTION

The Pennsylvania Jewelers Association will convene in the yummiest city in Pennsylvania for its annual convention and jewelry show. The convention and Keystone Jewelry Show will be held Aug. 1-4 at the Hershey Lodge & Convention Center in Hershey, Pa., home of the famous chocolate factory.

On the plate for the educational program are Matthew Runci, executive director of Jewelers of America, discussing “The New Jewelers of America”; “Shop Profitability” by Mark Mann, JA’s director of professional certification; “Ultimate Selling Skills” by Karen Kelly, an instructional designer and trainer; “Understanding the Diamond Market” by diamond dealer Martin Rapaport, publisher of the Rapaport Diamond Report; and Cynthia Marcusson of Cynthia Renée Co. presenting “The Color Palette System in Marketing Colored Gemstones.” Members also will have a chance to take the JA Certified Store Managers Exam.

Social events will include a welcome barbecue, golf tournament, kid’s night, president’s reception and show preview, gala dinner, Monte Carlo Night and PJA Treasure Island. Sunday night will feature one of the association’s notorious murder mysteries, “Happy Birthday, Mr. President.” Jewelers will attend a ’50s presidential birthday at the “White House” given by John and Jackie Kennedy. Afterward, there will be an ice cream social – Hershey style – and a Sock Hop.
