AMR Shows Interest in Colored Diamonds

The December 2003 edition of Auction Market Resource (AMR) focuses on colored—as well as colorless—diamonds sold at auction. In his lead article, “Diamonds @ Auction: An Evolving Scenario,” Howard Rubin, one of the leading experts in color diamond nomenclature and a contributor to AMR, writes, “Colored diamonds are no longer a fad but an increasing sales trend that the auction market started and carried over into the normal jewelry channels.”

Sharon Wakefield, research gemologist from Boise, Idaho, also contributes to the December AMR, examining the upsurge in awareness and manufacture of synthetic gem-quality diamond. Wakefield notes that “manufactured diamonds aren’t new; they aren’t expensive; they aren’t rare.”
