The American Assay & Gemological Office hosted a reception for the trade press at its New York laboratory in October. The reception offered CEO John Politi a chance to thank the press for their support and introduce Donna Beaton, its newly appointed senior gemologist and manager of laboratory services. Eric Emms, director of the AnchorCert Gemmological Office in London, was also in attendance, demonstrating the latest in HPHT and synthetic diamond detection equipment. The lab has recently acquired a DiamondSure, a Diamond View, and a Raman spectrophotometer for detection of synthetics and simulants; such testing is included in all its grading reports.
