Feriel Zerouki, De Beers’ chief trade and industry officer who announced yesterday she is leaving the company after 20 years, tells JCK she has “no plans” right now, but she intends to stay in the diamond business.
“Leaving De Beers was a really tough decision for me to make,” Zerouki says. “I am really proud of what I accomplished. It’s a great company with great people, and I’ve been blessed to work there. I’m optimistic about its future. It’s full of talented people who care deeply about the business and the industry.”
Zerouki adds that she needed a break. “I am looking forward to my next adventure.”
Purvi Shah, De Beers’ head of ethical and sustainable value chains, will take Zerouki’s place on the boards of the Jewelers Vigilance Committee and the Responsible Jewellery Council.
Zerouki will remain president of the World Diamond Council until May 2026.
