Yurman, Cartier to be honored at JIC’s Gem Awards

The Jewelry Information Center will hold its second annual Gem Awards on Friday Jan. 9, 2004 at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City.

The Gem Awards was introduced to recognize journalistic excellence by members of the consumer media who have given superior coverage to the fine jewelry and watch industries, JIC said in a statement.

JIC also presents a lifetime achievement award and honors a retailer for excellence in marketing and production. The lifetime achievement award will be given to David and Sybil Yurman of David Yurman Inc. The marketing award will be presented to Cartier. Recipients of the media awards will be announced at a later date.

Deborah Norville will once again serve as mistress of ceremonies. Steven Kaiser of Kaiser Time is the event chairman, and Terri Eagle of David Yurman Inc. is the commemorative journal chair.

The black-tie evening will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails, followed by dinners and the awards presentation at 8 p.m.

Tickets to the Gem Awards are $500 each. To purchase tickets or to inquire about sponsorship, contact JIC at 646-658-0240.
