Yurman, Alisa reach settlement

A long-standing copyright infringement lawsuit between David Yurman of Yurman Design Inc., New York, and a New Jersey-based wholesaler and an Italian manufacturer has been settled.

Under the agreement, filed in a federal court in New York City, Golden Treasure Imports Inc., dba Alisa, of Manalapan, N.J., and Alessandro Menegatti of Vicenza, Italy, are enjoined from the manufacture, use, or sale of more than 100 designs of cable jewelry that were deemed to have been improperly copied from Yurman’s line, said a Yurman spokesperson.

In the settlement, Alisa did agree to cease production of certain styles of its collection and pay Yurman a damage award, the amount of which was not disclosed by either litigant. Yurman acknowledged Alisa’s right to sell cable jewelry, said a statement from Alisa.
