Yael Sonia is offering guys a chance to adorn themselves in virile versions of her women’s jewelry. Enter Sonia’s new men’s jewelry collection in 18k gold and sterling silver.
Twenty-six SKUs exist in structural-looking designs that exhibit the same playfulness and stones—onyx, quartz, diamonds, and pearls—found in women’s pieces.
“The collection was inspired by some of my early creations with the idea of modern architecture and movement with geometrically cut gemstones,” explains Sonia.
Monochromatic color schemes are evident in white gold and gold with black rhodium plating, and Sonia drew the most inspiration from these contrasting colors. “I love the appearance of black and gray juxtaposed with clear quartz stones,” she says. “Both color-scheme inspirations achieve a modern and bold look and are very evident throughout.”
Sonia’s goal in the men’s line: offer male shoppers ranging in age from their mid-20s to their late 60s something different—particularly those who are exploring fine jewelry for the first time.
“The men’s line also gave me the opportunity to experiment with new materials, techniques, and processes, as I generally work only with gold and fine materials,” Sonia adds.
Some of the most interesting styles in the collection are stud earrings. Sonia saw a dearth of them in the market—“especially in modern, geometric, and bold designs,” she says. “The studs in my collection are true to my design integrity and are also a unique offering. I know many men with pierced ears, so I am catering to my male customer. We offer our studs in half or full pair, since some men have only one ear pierced.”
Retail prices start at $325, and pieces will ship to stores by holiday. Buy-in is between eight and 10 pieces.
