The San Diego chapter of the Women’s Jewelry Association
will offer a seminar titled “Gemstone Photography Tips” on Oct. 5 from 6:30 to
8:30 p.m. at the Gemological Institute of America headquarters in Carlsbad,
Calif. Robert Weldon, manager of photography and laboratory publishing at GIA,
will present the session.
Weldon will cover topics such as types of cameras to
consider, photographing metallic surfaces, creating a portable studio,
photographing jewelry, lighting techniques, Photoshop tips, and preparing
images for e-mail and publication.
Weldon has covered the gem world for more than 16 years, and
his photographs have appeared in scores of publications and in several books.
The seminar will include a light reception. The cost is $20
for WJA members, $25 for nonmembers, and $30 at the door. To register, click here.
