Winter’s Jeweled Blooms Look Toward Spring—Part 3: Delicate Details in Happy Hues

Alongside chunky designs and soft pastel colors, delicate examples of floral motifs appear in bold colors in jewelry as well:

Among the featured designs in the January 2013 issue of Marie Claire is a brightly colored necklace from Erickson Beamon worn with a dress from Oscar de la Renta.

A “Technicolor, ’50s-inspired” Marc Jacobs lace dress of lace is accompanied by a floral ring from Erickson Beamon and earrings of flourite, peridot, and coral from Hutton Wilkinson for Tony Duquette Jewelry in this styling from the December 2012 issue of Elle. The shoes are from Valentino Garavani.

The December 2012–January 2013 issue of More suggests that its target readers want “grown-up, not girly” and recommends “inky florals” and classic shapes. Pictured are R.J. Graziano resin and crystal drop earrings; a Kate Spade New York gold-plated pendant necklace featuring an orb covered with blossoms; and a crystal and metal necklace from Loft.

The November 2012 issue of Lucky focuses on “Fabulous Florals”: “glammed up, goth and girlish twists on the sweetest ever motif.” Featured are an onyx, smoky topaz, lemon quartz, and labradorite gold-plated brooch from Bounkit; a diamond and 14k white gold ring from Effy; diamante teardrop earrings from Tory Burch; a lavish flower cuff of Swarovski crystal, hematite-plate, and fabric from Elizabeth Cole Jewelry; a Rose Garden necklace from Erickson Beamon; Warner earrings with black roses from Dannijo; a customizable bracelet including silver Simply Rosy beads from Chamilia; and a stack of rings in 14k gold, onyx and silver, sterling silver and crystal, and diamond and gold, all from Pandora.

A fashion face-off of pretty versus edgy translates to floral necklaces versus designs with chain and spike detail in the November 2012 issue of People StyleWatch. On the pretty side are a rhodium necklace with faceted glass from Kate Spade New York; a necklace of crystal and metal from Fragments; and a necklace of “aluminum plate with zinc castings, plastic stone and pearl detail” from Loft. Actress Jaime King is pictured wearing a floral Saint Vintage necklace. On the edgy side are a silver-plated metal necklace with crystals form LyraLoveStar; a rose gold- and silver-plated brass necklace with Swarovski crystal detail from Joomi Lin; and a necklace of metal with pavé crystal detail from BaubleBar. Actress Whitney Port appears in an additional  Joomi Lin spiked necklace.

The November 2012 issue of Allure spotlights a handmade floral necklace from Chanel, noting that it “takes eight hours to glue and screw together the jeweled petals and Plexiglas plates.” Allure states that the necklace is inspired by Marie Antoinette and evocative of Coco Chanel.

Not surprisingly, floral motifs are popular choices for brides. The spring-summer 2013 issue of Town & Country Weddings comments, “Everything is coming up roses—not to mention daisies, lilies, and peonies—for brides this season.” Some of the selections are unexpectedly colorful. Pictured are necklaces from Martin Katz and Van Cleef & Arpels; brooches from Chanel, Oscar Heyman, and Cindy Chao; earrings from Nina Runsdorf, Anita Ko, and Bulgari; a Dior ring and a Graff bracelet.

In the midst of winter, these beautiful reminders of spring cannot be enjoyed soon enough.
