A Harry Winston platinum and emerald-cut diamond ring sold
for $662,500 at Sotheby’s Important Jewels auction in New York City on Feb. 2.
The 15.98 ct. VS1 clarity ring led the sale, fetching
$41,458 per carat. The auction’s final sales total was $8.8 million, the
highest for a February auction at Sotheby’s New York.
White diamonds were among other top sellers at the auction.
“We saw bidding from a truly international audience, with
many clients embracing participation through our online BidNow program, adding
an exciting new element to our salesroom,” Gary Schuler, senior vice president
and head of Sotheby’s Jewelry department in New York, said in a statement.
