Some 86% of women want a luxurious gift on Mother’s Day, according to a recently conducted telephone poll by Bailey, Banks & Biddle.
Among top gift preferences, 38% of women want a get-away weekend, 31% want jewelry, and 24% want a day at the spa. If loved ones don’t treat moms to a trip, then women want them to shop at a jeweler (52%), a florist (23%), or an apparel store (18%). Desirable jewelry gifts include: diamond stud earrings (32%), a diamond line bracelet (29%, or a strand of pearls (28%). If shoppers insist on buying precious metal for moms, think gold first: 64% of women polled want gold, 17% want silver, and 16% want platinum.
The survey was conducted in February and March 2001 via random telephone interview with 500 U.S. female residents for Bailey, Banks & Biddle by TeleNation, a service of Market Facts, Inc.
