John Furner, now the president and CEO of Walmart’s U.S. division, will become Walmart’s global president and CEO on Feb. 1, 2026.
He will take over from Doug McMillon, who has been the retail giant’s president and CEO since 2014. McMillon will remain on Walmart’s board until June and will be an adviser to Furner for a year after he steps down.
Furner, 51, has headed Walmart’s U.S. division—the company’s largest, with 4,600 stores—since 2019. Like McMillon, 59, Furner has worked his entire career at Walmart, beginning as an hourly associate.
