The Van Scoy Diamond Mine location in Scranton, Penn., closed
after filing for Chapter 7 on April 25, and now there are reports of customers
stranded without items.
The closing does not impact other Van Scoy stores locations.
The bankruptcy petition lists assets as $507,638, and total
liabilities as $507,638.
Top unsecured trade creditors include Paramount Gems, which
is owed $30,209.
A local news station recently aired a
report about customers who had items in the shop for repair, and now have
no access to them.
The company’s trustee did not return a call from JCK, but told the station the closing
was not voluntary, adding: “We will do everything in our power to work
with these folks to get their money back, get their property back.”
The store’s bankruptcy attorney did not return a request for
comment. The store’s answering machine said it was full and no longer accepting
messages.
