
In welcome economic news, the U.S. Census Bureau announced
Aug. 12 that U.S. retail sales in July increased 0.5 percent from the prior
month, the largest gain in four months.
Sales were also up 8.9 percent from last year.
In June,
retail sales were flat, the Bureau said, while in May,
they decreased.
Sales in the clothing and clothing accessories category were
up 0.5 percent over June, and 7.7 percent from the year before.
