U.S. Assistant Secretary Meets With Indian Jewelry and Gem Trade

Charles Rivkin, the U.S. assistant secretary of the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs, met with representatives of the Indian gem and jewelry industry in Mumbai on Nov. 17.

The meeting included representatives from the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), the Bharat Diamond Bourse, and SEEPZ Gems & Jewellery Manufacturers’ Association.

“Mr. Rivkin along with his delegation visited the Bharat Diamond Bourse, Mumbai Diamond Merchants’ Association, and SME Trading Hall,” GJEPC shared in a statement.

The Indian delegation was especially interested in the reimplementation of Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) on jewelry exported to the United States.
