UBM Asia, a Hong Kong–based producer of trade fairs and magazines, will kick off its first European fair next year in Freiburg, Germany, during the same time as Baselworld 2014—and in a location that’s just 32 miles away.

The Jewellery & Gem Fair Europe will be held April 1–4, 2014, at Messe Freiburg, Germany, with UBM Live, UBM Asia’s sister company in Europe. (Baselworld takes place March 27–April 3, 2014.) Organizers say it aims to be “a comprehensive sourcing fair offering a wide range of jewellery products and serving all of Europe.”

To date, 200 exhibitors from 25 countries—including Australia, China, Columbia, India, Israel, Russia, the United States, Zambia, and others—have signed on, accounting for 60 percent of the total available space.

“The launch of JGF Europe is an important milestone in UBM Asia’s jewellery fair history,” Wolfram Diener, senior vice president of UBM Asia, told the media. “We are confident the fair will bring quality exhibitors, and equally important, serious buyers from around the world.”

Fair admission is open to the jewelry trade, business professionals, and members of the press. An admission discount will be given to preregistered visitors; online preregistration opens in June 2013.
