TV Weatherman Joins Family Jewelry Business

Michael Page, who for the last five years has been an on-air TV meteorologist in Massachusetts, is joining his family business, Hingham Jewelers in Hingham, Mass., as head of business development and long-term strategic growth.

His primary focus will be digital growth for the 72-year-old store, which was founded by his maternal grandparents, Angelo and Helen Manjos.

“As parents, we couldn’t be happier or prouder [of Michael],” said Stacey Page, who co-owns the store with husband David, in a statement. “Michael’s vision for the future of Hingham Jewelers, and his ability to quickly implement digital changes, has been instrumental in allowing the business to grow and succeed during the pandemic.”

Added Michael Page in the same statement, “I grew up in the family business, cleaning the showcases after school as early as second grade and working straight through high school and college breaks.”

He added that, even while working in television, he has pitched in to help the family business behind the scenes, with things like social media, its website, and accompanying his parents on buying trips.

“My parents have made very wise digital investments in recent years, like getting the entire inventory online,”  he continued. “But I see tremendous growth potential right now, especially after the pandemic. Many digital shopping habits will stick, and collectively we’ve been reminded how important locally owned small businesses are to the fabric of our community. That’s why, after months of thinking about it, now seems like the right time to join full-time.”

Page tells JCK he plans to stay involved in forecasting and TV on a freelance basis, and has just launched a new weather site. Flawlessforecast.com.

“Maybe I’ll provide wedding forecasts for engagement ring and wedding band customers,” he adds.

Page worked for five years at local Massachusetts stations such as NBC10 Boston and New England Cable News. He started out by designing a local New England weather app in high school, which eventually garnered one million hits a month.
